About DCC
Formed in 1992, the Diversity Council of the Carolinas (DCC) served as a forum to discuss diversity issues in the workplace and share constructive ideas for dealing with this complex subject with far-reaching impact. Initially sponsored by The National Conference for Community and Justice (NCCJ) and the United Way of Central Carolinas, Inc., the initial membership of 40 representatives from local businesses, industries and other agencies worked to construct a meaningful program. The Council received its 501c3 certification in 1994.
While DCC membership has grown dramatically over the years and our participation now includes hundreds of businesses representing a wide variety of industries throughout the region, our focus remains steadfast: To Educate, Inspire and Change.
We believe that diversity reflects differences in, yet not limited to: gender, ethnicity, age, physical abilities, language, nationalities, race, beliefs, values, behavior, norms, sexual orientation and life experiences. By working to educate, inspire and change the workplace, diverse individuals can come together to do business, offer services, create goods and capital, educate and govern, and provide energy and initiative to drive the economy of our region.
The DCC strives to be a leading and trusted voice for diversity and inclusion across the Carolinas. Leveraging diversity will demand new social models and new skills for carrying out work in collaborative, inclusive partnerships that transcend traditional work and social boundaries.
We are proud to diligently serve our region for the greater good of our community and to provide education, promote inspiration and drive change in the workplace.
